Last week the U.S. military re-tasked planes providing air support to a Syrian rebel group so they could attack ISIS fighters fleeing Fallujah, Iraq instead. This happened in the midst of an offensive to capture Bukamal, Syria from ISIS, an offensive that failed, at least in part due to the missing air cover. U.S. forces appear to be stretched thin.
