- The FBI agent responsible for investigating Mohammed Abdulazeez’s attack in Chattanooga provided some details on what happened in the Navy Operational Support Center and Marine Corps Reserve Center, where Abdulazeez stalked people through a building and into a motor pool, where police caught up with him. The center’s commanding officer, Lt. Cmdr. Timothy White, reportedly fired on Abdulazeez using his personal weapon, which is interesting because he wasn’t supposed to be carrying a weapon on federal property. One of the Marines killed in the attack also had a personal 9mm Glock on him.
Attorney General Loretta Lynch said the Department of Justice is investigating the Planned Parenthood videos released by the Center for Medical Progress. Given the politicized nature of the DOJ, there’s a good chance Lynch will investigate the Center for Medical Progress, not Planned Parenthood – it’s what Congressional Democrats Jan Schakowsky, Zoe Lofgren, Jerry Nadler, and Yvette Clarke are asking the DOJ to do.
The Daily Signal published a list of 39 companies that have contributed directly to Planned Parenthood.
Rick Perry went all-in criticizing Donald Trump during a speech in Washington, D.C.:
Donald Trump is the modern-day incarnation of the know-nothing movement.
He espouses nativism, not conservatism. He is negative when conservatism is inherently optimistic.
He would divide us along bloodlines, when conservatives believe our policies will work for people of all backgrounds.
He has piqued the interest of some Republican voters who have legitimate concerns about a porous border and broken immigration system. But instead of offering those voters leadership or solutions, he has offered fear and soundbites. This cannot stand.
I will not go quiet when this cancer on conservatism threatens to metastasize into a movement of mean-spirited politics that will send the Republican Party to the same place it sent the Whig Party in 1854: the graveyard.
I suspect the Republican Party is already the Whig Party – it just doesn’t know it’s dead yet.
A Texas Department of Public Safety report studied crimes committed by illegal immigrants during the period October 2008 to April 2014. During those five and a half years, a total of 177,588 unique criminal alien defendants were booked into Texas county jails; they committed 611,234 criminal acts, including 7,695 sexual assaults and 2,993 homicides. Senator Ted Cruz questioned ICE Director Sarah Saldaña about crimes committed by illegal immigrants during a hearing yesterday:
A federal grand jury indicted a former Habersham County, Georgia Deputy Sheriff, Nikki Autry, for lying on a search warrant application; the warrant was granted and led to a no-knock raid where a flash-bang grenade was thrown into a toddler’s playpen, severely injuring him. The indictment accuses Autry of violating the Fourth Amendment rights of the toddler and his family.
The Obama administration decided not to publicly blame China for the Office of Personnel Management hack, which implies it’s highly unlikely that China will suffer any repercussions over it.
The PKK claimed responsibility for the murder of two Turkish police officers in the southeastern town of Ceylanpinar. The PKK said the murders were in retaliation for Monday’s ISIS suicide bombing in Suruc, and that the police officers were connected to ISIS. President Obama and Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan agreed to better secure the border between Turkey and Syria, which may (if it comes to pass) help dispel the belief – commonly held among Kurds – that Turkey’s government is secretly in league with ISIS.
